Jaisalmer: After assuming charge as the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit Sunday visited strategically significant Uttarlai Air Force Station in Barmer, located close to the India-Pakistan border.During the visit, Dixit reviewed the security arrangements and operational preparedness of the air base, assessing its capabilities and readiness to undertake assigned missions. The visit was particularly significant for the Air Chief Marshal as Uttarlai was not an unfamiliar station for him.He had commanded the same airbase as an Air Commodore in 2013 when he served as its Air Officer Commanding (AOC). Returning to the station after more than a decade, this time as the head of the Indian Air Force, brought back memories of his earlier tenure and offered him an opportunity to revisit the place where he had once served as its commanding officer.During the visit, Dixit took stock of the base’s operational capabilities, security arrangements and overall state of readiness. He reviewed the preparedness of the station to undertake assigned missions and respond effectively to emerging operational requirements. The assessment also focused on the operational environment and the readiness of personnel and infrastructure at this strategically important forward air base.He interacted with Agniveervayu personnel, including women Agniveervayu, and emphasised their important role in strengthening the IAF’s combat potential and operational effectiveness. He highlighted the contribution of young personnel in enhancing the operational capabilities of the force.
