Min directs police to replace Urdu, Persian terms with Hindi

Jaipur: Minister of state for home Jawahar Singh Bedham once again instructed the Director General of Police to begin the process of replacing Urdu and Persian words with Hindi in police department operations. In an official communication to the DGP Saturday, he stated that this will improve public understanding of police records, official forms, and communication.The minister stated that many procedural documents in the police dept still use terminology dating back to the Mughal era. Bedham acknowledged the historical roots of Urdu and Persian in administrative language but he also underlined that Rajasthan is a Hindi-speaking state where most citizens are more comfortable with Hindi. tnn
