Jaipur: After remaining weak over Rajasthan for several days, the southwest monsoon is expected to regain strength from July 21, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting widespread rainfall across the state from July 22.According to the forecast issued Saturday, many places in Jaipur, Bharatpur and Kota divisions are likely to receive heavy rainfall on July 22, bringing relief from the prevailing hot and humid conditions.On Saturday, mild to moderate showers were reported from parts of Dausa, Kota, Alwar and Karauli districts, while most parts of the state remained largely dry. Rainfall between 10mm and 30mm was recorded at several places in Dausa, Kota and Karauli.With monsoon activity remaining subdued elsewhere, Sriganganagar was the hottest place in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 42.5 degrees celsius. It was followed by Bikaner (40.7), Dausa (39.9), Jaisalmer and Churu (39.8 each), Pilani (39.5), Phalodi (39.4), Karauli (39.1), Barmer (38.8), Alwar (38.5), Banasthali (38.3), Jaipur (37.6), Sikar (37.5), Kota (37.3) and Udaipur (Dabok) (34.8).Jaipur recorded a warmer morning with the minimum temperature settling at 29.8 degrees celsius. The city witnessed a sultry afternoon as the mercury climbed to 37.6 degrees celsius, while humidity touched 90%.The IMD said a partly cloudy sky is likely over many parts of the state, but the chances of rainfall remain minimal.
