Jaipur: A 25-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death while trying to mediate a dispute between two groups of friends in Jaipur’s Shivdaspura area, police said Saturday.The incident took place near Vrindavan Garden late Friday night. The victim’s body was found in a vacant plot Saturday morning.Police identified the deceased as Sonu Yadav, a native of Tonk district who worked as a driver in Jaipur and lived in a rented accommodation in Pratap Nagar with his friend, Bhagchandra Chaudhary.According to police, Bhagchandra had an ongoing dispute with an acquaintance, Govind Chaudhary, which had allegedly escalated through exchanges on social media. To settle the issue, both sides, accompanied by around 12 to 15 associates, gathered at a vacant plot near Vrindavan Garden around midnight Friday.During the meeting, an argument allegedly turned violent. Police said Sonu, who had accompanied Bhagchandra, intervened to defuse the situation but was stabbed in the chest and abdomen during the clash. The attackers fled the spot immediately after the assault.Police said those present also fled in the ensuing chaos and initially believed Sonu had escaped. When he failed to return home, his friends searched for him through the night but could not trace him.Locals spotted the body around 7am Saturday and alerted police. The body was shifted to the mortuary at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem.Police have detained several suspects for questioning and are probing the role of all those present during the clash. A murder case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
