Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is preparing to launch three traffic infrastructure projects this financial year after Projects Work Committee (PWC) sanctioned funds for the Gopalpura underpass. Officials said the Rajmahal Palace underpass on Sardar Patel Marg is expected to begin in Dec, the Gopalpura underpass in Feb 2027, and the JLN Marg signal-free corridor process has been fast-tracked for March.“After PWC sanctioned fund for the Gopalpura project Thursday, we would now start initiating the tender works for the project and issue work order by early Jan. The tender for the Sardar Patel Marg is ready, and we are expecting to issue work orders in Nov. Both projects would continue simultaneously for the next eight to 12 months,” stated a senior JDA official.Officials said both underpasses are critical to handling projected traffic growth. Gopalpura Bypass Road is likely to see a rise in vehicle load after the proposed elevated road linking Gopalpura RoB with Gurjar ki Thadi is built. Sardar Patel Marg is expected to face pressure after the Civil Lines RoB becomes operational. The Gopalpura RoB may take nearly 30 months, though JDA aims to open the Civil Lines RoB by the end of this year. For JLN Marg, JDA appointed a consultancy to prepare the feasibility report. The signal-free plan was designed by School for Planning and Architecture under Ministry of Education, with Indian Roads Congress members involved.“We are expecting the report by early Jan. Accordingly, funds for this project would be granted and we are going to float the tender. We are aiming to initiate this project during this financial year,” stated a JDA official.
