Jaipur: A 32-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death with an axe by his younger brother following a dispute over money in Bikaner district late Thursday night.Police took the accused into custody shortly after the incident, which took place in Nokha town.Police identified the deceased as Hukumchand alias Sewaram, 32, and the accused as his younger brother, Jagdish, 29. According to a complaint lodged by their father, Om Prakash, Hukumchand had demanded money from Jagdish to buy intoxicants. When Jagdish refused, an argument broke out between the brothers.Police said the quarrel escalated outside the house in Panchariya Chowk around 11.30pm. During the altercation, Jagdish allegedly went back inside, brought an axe and repeatedly struck Hukumchand on the neck, leaving him critically injured.A passerby spotted Hukumchand lying in a pool of blood and alerted nearby residents. Family members rushed him to the District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Police reached the spot after receiving information, detained the accused from his house and seized the axe allegedly used in the murder. The body was shifted to the hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. Barricades were erected around the crime scene, while police and Rajasthan Armed Constabulary personnel were deployed as a precaution.According to the complaint, Jagdish runs a shop, while Hukumchand was unemployed and allegedly addicted to intoxicants. Local residents told police the brothers had quarrelled on several occasions in the past.Police have registered a murder case and are investigating the incident.
