Jaipur: The Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd issued a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) Friday for works worth over Rs 918 crore, marking a major step forward in the Phase-2 expansion of the city’s metro network.The approved package includes the design and construction of an elevated via duct and 10 elevated stations along a 12-km corridor from Prahladpura to Pinjrapol Gaushala. The proposed stations on this stretch are Prahladpura, Manpura, Bilwa Kalan, Bilwa, Goner Mod, Sitapura, JECC, Kumbha Marg, Haldighati Gate and Pinjrapol Gaushala.“The issuance of the LoA is a key milestone. Construction activity on the corridor will commence shortly,” a senior JMRCL official said.The move follows directions from Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to fast-track the project. “The chief minister has instructed that work on Jaipur Metro Phase-2 be expedited and tenders for the remaining stretches be invited at the earliest,” an official said.The state govt is now pushing to initiate tenders for the remaining 29 km of the total 41-km Phase-2 network. The project, estimated at Rs 13,037.66 crore, earlier received approval from the Union Cabinet.Officials said the expansion will significantly improve urban mobility. “This corridor will enhance connectivity to key residential, industrial and institutional areas, especially in the southern and eastern parts of Jaipur,” an official added.
