Jodhpur: A special CBI court in Jodhpur Monday remanded Sudhanshu Suman, an assistant garrison engineer (AGE) posted in Jaipur, to judicial custody till April 27 after his arrest for allegedly accepting a Rs 50,000 bribe.Suman was produced in court after a two-day CBI remand. He was arrested on April 11 in a trap laid by the CBI’s Jodhpur unit, which alleged he was caught red-handed while taking the first instalment of the bribe.CBI sources said the trap followed a complaint that Suman demanded Rs 90,000 to clear pending bills worth Rs 35 lakh linked to construction works in military areas. Suman, a Bihar resident, joined the Military Engineering Services (MES) in 2023 as a Group A officer and was posted as AGE in Jaipur, where he handled technical scrutiny and clearance of bills. The agency has widened its probe to examine alleged disproportionate assets. Investigators alleged that within a year of joining service, Suman acquired a bungalow worth around Rs 1.5 crore in Bhagalpur in 2024 and a premium electric SUV worth about Rs 30 lakh in Jaipur in 2025.“Given the apparent mismatch between his known sources of income and assets, we are examining the disproportionate assets angle. His salary details, income tax returns and loan documents are under scrutiny,” a source said.During searches at his Jaipur residence, officials recovered cash and collected details of bank accounts, property papers, digital records and financial transactions, the agency said.
