Govt recommends promotion of over 12,000 staff in education dept

JAIPUR: A departmental promotion committee (DPC) meeting held in Jodhpur Monday recommended the promotion of 12,115 govt personnel in the secondary education dept, aiming to fill long-pending vacancies and strengthen staffing in schools.The meeting reviewed vacancies for the 2025–26 DPC cycle, including 144 posts of district education officer, nine deputy district education officers (physical education), 19 librarian grade posts, 31 lecturers (physical education), seven coaches (various sports), 112 lecturers (special education) and five senior private secretaries. It also discussed 12,957 vacancies for lecturer posts (school education—various subjects) for the period 2023–24 to 2025–26.Following deliberations, the committee recommended promotions across cadres to address staffing gaps.Education minister Madan Dilawar said the move aligns with the state govt’s priority of filling vacant posts and improving the quality of education.Teachers said the promotions are expected to benefit students of Classes 11 and 12, especially in schools where lecturer posts were vacant. With science streams introduced in many schools this year, the availability of lecturers is likely to improve academic delivery.
