Jaisalmer: Five persons, including a woman candidate and four examination officials, were booked, Wednesday, for allegedly facilitating cheating during the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board’s (RSSB) Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/Clerk Grade-II recruitment examination held in Jaisalmer Sunday.Police detained the five accused—the examination centre superintendent, school principal, teacher, invigilator and the candidate—for allegedly helping her use unfair means during the second shift of the examination at Swami Vivekananda Government Model School.The action followed complaints from candidates alleging that examination staff colluded to help the woman candidate cheat. Acting on the complaints, the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board directed the Jaisalmer district administration to conduct an inquiry. A committee headed by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) investigated the allegations.Based on the inquiry, District Education Officer Mahesh Bissa lodged an FIR at Kotwali Police Station. The report allegedly confirmed the use of unfair means and noted that CCTV cameras at the examination centre remained non-functional for nearly nine minutes during the examination, raising further suspicion.The FIR names candidate Manu Kanwar, principal Ummed Singh, reliever Padam Singh, teacher Jalam Singh and invigilator Bhim Singh. All five are in police custody and being questioned.According to the inquiry report, Padam Singh allegedly took the question paper outside the examination hall to facilitate cheating and provide an unfair advantage to the candidate. Investigators suspect the act involved other officials responsible for conducting the examination.The probe is being supervised by Jaisalmer Additional SP Revatdan Charan, while an FSL team has been called to examine evidence from the examination centre.Police registered the case under Sections 3 and 10 of the Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2022, and Sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Officials said the investigation is underway and further arrests have not been ruled out.
