Jaipur: The city bade a tearful farewell to Lt Colonel (Retd) Rajveer Singh Chouhan, who died in the Kedarnath helicopter crash, at Chandpole Mokshadham on Tuesday. Chouhan’s wife, Lieutenant Colonel Deepika, paid tributes to her husband in uniform, carrying his photograph with her during the funeral procession and saluting him in farewell. The last journey, which was attended by friends, family, and a string of political functionaries, echoed with slogans of “Rajveer Amar Rahe”. While immediate family members were inconsolable in the funeral procession, the last rites were performed by the late pilot’s nephew at 10:30am Tuesday. In the funeral procession, devastated elderly parents could only say, “We have lost everything.”After retiring from the Indian Army, Lt Col Chouhan, the father of four-month-old twins, operated helicopters for a private aviation company, Aryan Aviation, after serving in the Army for over 15 years. Cabinet minister for Sainik Kalyan department, Rajyavardhan Rathore, who paid tributes, said, “I visited the residence of retired Lt Col Rajveer Singh Chouhan and paid my humble tributes to him and consoled his family. His untimely demise in the Kedarnath helicopter accident is extremely painful. He devoted his entire life to the service of the country.”
