JAISALMER: Sri Ganganagar Police have dismissed videos circulating on social media and rumours claiming that the minor victim in the 13-year-old rape case has died as completely false, misleading and baseless.Police have appealed to the public not to believe or share such misinformation, warning that strict legal action will be taken against those spreading rumours.The clarification came after a video began circulating widely on social media on Wednesday morning claiming that the minor victim had died.Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police Hari Shankar said the police have taken a serious view of the viral content related to the sensitive case. He urged the public not to forward any unverified, fake or misleading videos linked to the incident.Meanwhile, Additional Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar released a video statement clarifying that the videos being circulated on social media are entirely fake and misleading.According to the police, several videos showing a crying girl and footage allegedly showing police assaulting the accused have been widely shared online over the past few days. However, officials said these videos have no connection with the Sri Ganganagar case and are being falsely linked to the incident to spread misinformation.Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case, police cautioned that anyone sharing misleading content or revealing the identity of the minor victim on social media may face legal action under the relevant provisions of the law.Police have once again appealed to citizens to rely only on official information released by the police and refrain from sharing unverified content that could create confusion or hamper the investigation.
