Kota: Kota Rural police busted a fake currency note racket during patrolling under Chechat police station of the district Sunday night and arrested five persons for circulating forged currency in the rural market.According to Superintendent of Police (Kota Rural), Sujit Shankar, the Chechat police station team detained two persons during routine patrolling at a check post near Modak Road, close to a hotel, Sunday night. Upon searching them, officers found counterfeit currency, including three fake Rs 500 notes and one fake Rs 200 note, he added. During interrogation, the two identified as Zahid (19) and Islam (26), admitted to having procured fake currency notes of Rs 30,000 for Rs 12,500 from Waqar and Wasim from Baran district. The police detained Waqar and Wasim, who revealed that they obtained the fake currency notes from Sohel of the Bhanwargarh police station area in Baran. A case under Sections 179, 180, 318(2) and 61(2) of BNS was filed and the five accused were arrested, the SP said. A detailed investigation to trace the wider network and source of the fake currency has been launched.
