Main gate of Haridev Joshi University damaged

Jaipur: The main gate of Haridev Joshi University’s new campus at Dehmi Kala was damaged during a dust storm and rain Saturday, raising concerns over construction quality and campus safety. The campus, operational since July last year and built at a cost of about Rs 110 crore, includes digital classrooms, computer labs, studios and a library. However, the damage following what students described as a mild weather event has sparked allegations of poor construction.Students said several facilities are still incomplete or not fully functional even months after classes began. “It has been nearly 10 months, yet many facilities are still being prepared. If a dust storm can damage the main gate, it raises serious questions about the quality of work,” said a postgraduate student, requesting anonymity.Others pointed to safety risks, noting the incident occurred over the weekend. “If students were present, it could have led to injuries,” another student said.Vice-chancellor Prof N.K. Pandey said the construction firm has been directed to repair the damage and carry out a safety audit before the monsoon. “We have asked them to fix all issues and ensure structural safety across the campus,” he said.
