Jaipur: Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra on Thursday alleged large-scale corruption in the transfer of teachers, accusing people close to education minister Madan Dilawar of extorting money during the process.Speaking to reporters after the OBC Congress Advisory Council conference in Jaipur, Dotasra alleged that the education department became the “worst-affected” by corruption in transfers.“There is rampant corruption in transfers. People close to the education minister are heavily engaged in extortion. A lot of money was taken in teachers’ transfers,” he alleged.Challenging the govt, Dotasra demanded that the phones of people close to the minister’s personal staff be examined, claiming it would expose the alleged wrongdoing.He also alleged that several of his relatives and employees were transferred to distant districts, including Banswara and Barmer, because of his criticism of the state govt and the RSS. “These days, if you say anything against the CM, all your acquaintances and relatives will be transferred,” Dotasra said.“I oppose the RSS and its policies. That is why they are targeting my family, my acquaintances and the people of my constituency (Lachhmangarh) through malicious transfers,” he said, adding that the Congress would not be intimidated by such actions.Accusing the govt of using transfers as a political tool, Dotasra claimed those close to the education minister became “brokers” and were “looting” the transfer process. “Schools are being ruined. Corruption is prevalent, and there is no one to listen. Even BJP MLAs are complaining,” he alleged.Commenting on former chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s recent remarks that political differences should not affect personal relations, Dotasra said her statement reflected “the truth spoken by a hurt soul”.He said healthy political discourse should not deteriorate to the extent that leaders are unable to maintain cordial personal relations despite ideological differences.The Rajasthan OBC Congress Advisory Council demanded increasing OBC reservation from 21% to 27%, constitutional reservation for OBCs in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, and adequate representation for OBC women within the 33% women’s quota. The proposals were adopted at the council’s first meeting held in Jaipur.
