Ajmer: An Ajmer court ordered police to register an FIR against BJP city president Ramesh Soni for allegedly reposting an obscene social media post targeting Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, after police acted against the Congress functionary who posted the content originally, but initially took no action against the BJP functionary who shared it.Ajmer additional chief magistrate No. 2 Tuesday directed police to register the case under Section 175(3) of the BNS on a complaint filed after police refused to lodge an FIR. The case was registered under various sections of the BNS and the IT Act.Advocate Vaibhav Jain said Congress functionary Piyush Surana had posted the obscene content and Soni reposted it. “On the complaint of the BJP women wing, police not only registered a case against Piyush, but the BJP women wing also blackened his face while he was at Civil Lines police station,” Jain said.Jain said Surana’s brother approached the court seeking an FIR against Soni, arguing that both committed the same offence but only Surana was booked. “The court asked for a report from Ganj police station, and protracted arguments followed. We provided rulings of the Supreme Court, and after that the court directed police to register a case against Soni and investigate,” Jain added. He said a separate case was also registered over Surana’s face being blackened with ink, naming a local BJP women’s wing leader.
