Alwar: A couple in their thirties died by suicide following a domestic dispute in Madapura village of Bharatpur district, leaving behind their five young children aged between one and eight years.Surendra (39), a mechanic, and his wife Reena (36) consumed poison on Monday evening after an argument, reportedly triggered by Surendra’s alcohol addiction. The incident occurred around 6 PM in their residence, with all five children present in the house.The situation came to light when neighbors heard the children’s distressed cries and found the couple vomiting. They were immediately rushed to Rudawal Hospital and later referred to a higher medical center due to their critical condition. However, both succumbed during transit and were declared dead upon arrival at RBM Hospital in Bharatpur. “We received information about the suicide on Tuesday morning,” said ASI Munshilal of Rudawal police station. “After completing the necessary documentation and post-mortem examination, the bodies were handed over to the family.” According to Mahendra Kumar, Surendra’s elder brother, the couple had been married for 18 years. They lived separately near the family home with their children – Shivanya (8), Kirti (6), Gudiya (4), Golu (3), and Monu (1). Sources report that Surendra’s alcohol dependency had been a source of frequent domestic disputes.The children, now orphaned, are reportedly in severe emotional distress. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
