Jaipur: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka Tuesday said students and the organisation have given the state govt three months to resolve issues faced by students at Rajasthan University, failing which they would seek the resignation of the vice chancellor.Addressing the media at Rajasthan University, Ranka said the demands include addressing irregular classes, delays in the semester system, shortage of teachers, poor infrastructure and delays in answer sheet revaluation.“We demand that the state govt must work to resolve various student-related issues of the university, whether it is the irregular classes, delay in the semester system, lack of teachers, poor infrastructure, revaluation of answer sheets or any other issue. We are giving three months’ time to the authorities to resolve these issues, else we will seek the vice chancellor’s resignation,” Ranka said.The tenure of RU vice chancellor Prof Alpana Kateja is scheduled to end in Sept this year. The state govt has constituted a search committee to select the next vice chancellor.Ranka, along with CJP spokesperson Deepak Baliyan, met student Shubham Rewar, who has been on a hunger strike since Thursday, demanding the restoration of student union elections in the state and the establishment of a regular department for Rajasthani language at RU.Extending support to Rewar’s demands, Ranka said, “Student body elections are a democratic right of students, and it is shameful that, for the past few years, the elections have not been conducted. If in RU, Rajasthani language is not promoted, then how will the language survive? We support both his (Rewar) demands, which are valid.”On Tuesday, before reaching RU, Ranka shared on X, “I have been told that ABVP goons are waiting at Rajasthan University to create a ruckus and vandalise the event. While I would not expect anything less from ABVP, it remains to be seen how Rajasthan Police handle this.”When asked about ABVP’s presence on the campus, Ranka said, “We are not scared of anyone. You cannot expect ABVP to talk about education, and only hooliganism is expected from ABVP. But we are here to discuss issues related to education, and we will keep raising real issues.”Ranka also said CJP hoped the Union govt would honour the demands agreed upon on July 25, following which the party called off its protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
