Jaipur: A 24-year-old food delivery driver was killed after a speeding Haryana Roadways bus hit his scooter and ran him over near Surajpol Saturday morning, police said. The bus driver fled with his vehicle from the scene of the accident, with police saying efforts were underway to trace the bus and identify the driver.The accident, which occurred around 10.30am near the Galta Gate police station, triggered a traffic jam as a large crowd gathered at the scene.The deceased was identified as Vikas Kumar (24), a native of Suroth in Hindaun city of Karauli district. He was living in Jaipur’s Mahesh Nagar area and worked as a food delivery executive, police said.The bus that sideswiped his scooter was travelling from Delhi to Jaipur at the time of the incident. Police said the impact of the collision threw Kumar onto the road and he was killed on the spot after being run over by the bus.A team from Galta Gate police station rushed to the spot, cleared the traffic congestion and shifted the body to the SMS Hospital mortuary.Investigators are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas and gathering details of Haryana Roadways buses that entered Jaipur around the time of the accident.A case has been registered in this connection and investigations remain ongoing, police said.
