Jaipur: The family of Sumitra Devi, 43, a resident of Mundia Kheda in Alwar district, gave a new lease of life to four people by donating her kidneys, liver, and heart for transplant into needy patients Saturday, after she was declared brain dead by the doctors.She was admitted to NIMS Hospital on Delhi Road Friday. Despite treatment, she was declared brain dead Saturday. The doctors informed the family about her health condition. The family was encouraged to donate Sumitra’s organs as she was declared brain dead. Following the consent of the family, the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization was informed about the family’s decision. An SMS Hospital official said her kidneys were transported to SMS where doctors transplanted them into a 37-year-old woman from Jodhpur and a 37-year-old man from Jaipur. Both were suffering from kidney failure. Additionally, her heart was harvested and taken to SMS Hospital, where it was transplanted into a 43-year-old man with heart failure, and her liver was sent to AIIMS Jodhpur via a green corridor.
