Jaipur: As the threat of seasonal diseases looms large with the arrival of monsoon in the state, the health department has taken a step to strengthen facilities. The department Friday issued orders for the posting of 268 doctors who were awaiting posting orders (APO) for the past few months.Among these 268 doctors, except for three, the rest are specialist doctors in orthopaedics, medicine, palliative medicine, pathology, biochemistry, ophthalmology, surgery, ENT, forensic medicine, paediatrics, gynaecology, cardiology, neurosurgery and plastic surgery.Two specialists in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery and neurosurgery have been given postings in RUHS Hospital, which the govt is aiming to develop as the Rajasthan Institute of Medical Sciences on the lines of AIIMS, Delhi.Since these doctors are specialists, the govt has given them postings in hospitals attached to medical colleges, district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, and community health centres. The majority of the specialist doctors in gynaecology, paediatrics, and medicine have been given postings in community health centres as the CHCs have sanctioned posts for gynaecology, paediatrics, and medicine.A senior health department official said that they have given the postings to these specialist doctors based on the requirements of the hospitals for specialist doctors.
