Jaipur: A chilling murder case that began in Bihar’s Aurangabad district with the killing of a newly married man led investigators across state borders, culminating in the arrest of key suspect, Jeevan Prasad (52), in Sawai Madhopur district. Prasad was arrested from a hotel in the district where he had been hiding. The victim, 24-year-old Priyanshu Kumar Singh, was gunned down on the night of June 24, barely 45 days after his wedding. He was returning from Nabipur railway station after a trip to Uttar Pradesh when he was ambushed and shot. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The initial investigation pointed to a contract killing, but Bihar police later uncovered a more sinister motive. Police revealed that Priyanshu’s wife, Gunja Singh (30), masterminded the murder. Gunja was allegedly in a 15-year-long illicit relationship with her maternal uncle, Prasad, and conspired with him to eliminate her husband. It is believed that Prasad hired contract killers to carry out the killing.According to the FIR lodged by Priyanshu’s brother, Himanshu Kumar, at Nabipur police station, two locals, Amit and Anup Singh, went to pick up Priyanshu on a motorcycle. On their way back, the assailants opened fire on Priyanshu. The breakthrough came when the Rajasthan police arrested Prasad from a hotel on Ranthambore Road in Sawai Madhopur, where he was staying under a fake identity for two days. Acting on cyber intelligence provided by Cyber Cell In-charge Ajit Moga, a team led by SHO Man Town, Sunil Kumar Gupta, located and arrested the accused. Police officials stated that the arrest was made under the supervision of additional SP Ramkumar Kaswan and DySP Uday Singh. The accused was handed over to Bihar Police inspector Mrityunjay Upadhyay of Nabipur police station.
