No recognition for Good Samaritans after Harmada tragedy

Jaipur: In the Harmada road accident that claimed 14 lives, several locals came forward to help police and ambulance workers transport the injured to hospitals, displaying remarkable community spirit. However, despite the Good Samaritan scheme—introduced under former CM Ashok Gehlot’s govt to reward those who assist accident victims—none of the volunteers received acknowledgment or incentives. The absence of recognition has raised concerns about the implementation of the scheme meant to encourage public help in emergencies. Some people even took victims to nearby private hospitals for immediate treatment. A Kanwatia Hospital official said, “The injured persons were transported to the hospital from the accident site by government ambulances.”
