Kota: A caretaker at Kota Zoo was put on Awaiting Posting Order (APO) and an inquiry was ordered Wednesday after a leopard escaped from its enclosure and entered nearby Chattar Villas (CV) Garden early Tuesday.Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve (MHTR) chief conservator of forests T Mohan Raj said caretaker Wasim Khan was put on APO following the incident. An inquiry committee headed by the DFO has been asked to submit its report within seven days.The leopard, a female aged over two-and-a-half years, had earlier been rescued from a forest and kept in an enclosure at the zoo. It was last seen in its enclosure Tuesday night before escaping in the early hours of Tuesday by loosening the wire net and iron rods of a ventilation window, Raj said.The zoo is around 100 metres from CV Garden, where the leopard was later spotted and where it climbed a 40-foot-high tree. It was rescued after a nearly three-hour operation involving forest department personnel and police.The leopard was taken to Abheda Biological Park, where it has been kept under observation.
