Jaipur: A five-year-old girl died on the spot and two others sustained grievous injuries when the bus that dropped them at the school gates ran over them in Karauli district Saturday morning.The deceased was identified as Riya. Jiya (4) and Shanu (7) were rushed to a hospital, where Shanu’s condition was stated to be critical. SHO (Nadoti) Veer Singh Gurjar said, “The three girls had just stepped out of the bus and were entering the school, but the driver failed to notice them in front and crushed them under the wheels.” The accident sparked outrage in the area. Villagers vandalised the school premises and blocked a road for nearly two hours. They raised slogans against the school management and demanded the driver’s arrest, compensation to the bereaved families, and strict action against the school’s director. “The blockade was lifted after villagers were assured action against the driver and the school,” an official said.
