Jaipur: A Jaipur district court Monday granted bail to a 22-year-old woman accused of using a mobile phone to cheat during the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination at an exam centre in Bindayaka.Additional District and Sessions Judge Vinod Kumar Gupta ordered the release of Himanshi Tiwari, a resident of Prem Nagar in Gurjar Ki Thadi. She was arrested after invigilators allegedly found her with a mobile phone inside the examination hall on June 21.In the order, the court mentioned that the applicant has been stated to be a 22-year-old young woman and described as a student, and it has been stated that no other case has been registered earlier against the applicant. It has been stated that no investigation or recovery remains pending from the applicant and that she has been in custody since June 22, 2026. The possibility that time may be taken in the remaining investigation of the case and in presenting the charge-sheet cannot be denied. Therefore, considering the overall facts and circumstances of the case, without making any comment on the merits and demerits of the case, it appears appropriate that the applicant / accused be granted the benefit of bail.According to the FIR lodged by Alka Garg, superintendent of Govt Higher Secondary School, Bindayaka, invigilators Parvati Devi and Sushila Devi found Tiwari carrying a mobile phone during the examination. Police said she was allegedly trying to photograph the question paper and obtain answers through an online platform.Mobile phones were prohibited inside the examination centre under National Testing Agency guidelines. A case was registered against Tiwari under the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act.
