Jaipur: Bhupendra Saran, the key accused in the senior teacher recruitment exam 2022 paper leak case, was granted bail by High Court on Sept 9. Justice Praveer Bhatnagar granted Saran conditional bail on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 with two sureties of Rs 25,000 each. The court directed Saran to mark his presence every second and fourth Saturday of each month at police station Bekriya, district Udaipur, where the FIR against him is registered, until conclusion of the trial.“It is not desirable to express anything on the merits of the case. It is not denied by the prosecution that the charges have yet to be framed against the petitioner and the other co-accused, and the petitioner is behind bars for the last two years and seven months. The charge-sheet contains a list of 93 prosecution witnesses, and there is no likelihood of the conclusion of the trial in the near future. Therefore, considering the long incarceration of the petitioner, this court deems it proper to enlarge the accused-petitioner on bail,” says the order.Counsel for the petitioner said Saran was falsely implicated in the case. It was contended that Saran was in custody since Feb 24, 2023, and charges were yet to be framed.
