Jaipur: The animal management wing of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Heritage (JMC-H) sealed 28 illegal meat shops operating in violation of regulations in Walled City Saturday. The action, carried out by JMC-H in Wards 62 and 65, was met with resistance from shopkeepers. However, the drive was carried out smoothly with the help of JMC’s vigilance unit.JMC-H veterinary officer, Dr Yogesh Sharma, said, “We received repeated complaints about meat shops operating against norms in this area. Our team inspected the site and sealed 28 such establishments that were not following required regulations.”During this operation, around 24 stray dogs roaming in the area were also rescued and taken to animal shelters by the municipal team.Municipal commissioner Nidhi Patel said the campaign against illegal meat shops will continue. “Such operations are necessary for maintaining law and order, public health and animal welfare,” she said.
