Jaipur: The Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) Monday arrested another candidate in connection with the alleged manipulation of OMR sheets in the 2018 Laboratory Assistant Direct Recruitment Examination, in which candidates were allegedly selected by tampering with their answer sheets during the scanning process.

Additional Director General of Police (SOG) Vishal Bansal identified the arrested accused as Pankaj Kumar Saini, 30, a resident of Dhandholai village in Dausa district. Police alleged that he was among the beneficiaries whose OMR sheets were manipulated to secure provisional selection.According to SOG, the investigation into a case revealed that employees of Rabhav Limited, the agency entrusted with scanning OMR sheets, manipulated the answer sheets of 27 candidates in collusion with beneficiaries and company officials.Investigators alleged that company employees Vinod Kumar Goud and Shadan Khan, in conspiracy with the firm’s executive director Rampravesh Singh and selected candidates, altered OMR sheets during the scanning process. The SOG earlier arrested the two employees, the executive director and five beneficiaries — Mahendra Kumar Meena, Devendra Singh Gurjar, Vijay Singh Meena, Pintu Kumar Meena and Sanjay Kumar Saini.Police said the investigation found that Pankaj Kumar Saini’s marks were shown as 191 during the OMR scanning process. However, a fresh scan of his original OMR sheet conducted by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board revealed that his actual score was only four marks.Pankaj Kumar Saini was arrested by an SOG team led by investigation officer Yashwant Singh under the supervision of senior officers. Police said further investigation is under way to identify the full extent of the alleged examination fraud and trace the remaining beneficiaries and conspirators.
