Suspended patwari arrested for using dummy candidate in 2021 exam

Jaipur: The Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) Monday arrested a suspended patwari for allegedly securing his appointment by using a dummy candidate to write the 2021 Patwari recruitment examination on his behalf.Additional Director General of Police (SOG) Vishal Bansal identified the accused as Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Bhadaruna village in Sanchore. According to SOG, Kumar was appointed as a patwari and posted at Mangriwada Patwar Circle in Reodar tehsil of Sirohi district after allegedly clearing the examination through impersonation.The arrest followed a confidential complaint. After verification, SOG registered a case under charges of cheating, forgery, criminal conspiracy and provisions of the Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 1992.Investigators alleged that Kumar, with the help of a middleman, arranged a dummy candidate to appear in the examination held at an Udaipur centre on Oct 23, 2021. The dummy candidate’s photograph was allegedly affixed to Kumar’s admit card and forged signatures were used to facilitate the impersonation. Police alleged Kumar paid Rs 5 lakh through a broker for the arrangement.The SOG identified the alleged middleman as Choutharam Bishnoi alias Gila of Sanchore district and the dummy candidate as Vikram Bishnoi of Jalore district. Both are absconding.An SOG team led by investigation officer Navneet Bhardwaj arrested Kumar, who is currently under suspension. Officials said further investigation is underway to identify others involved in the alleged recruitment fraud.
