‘Gaushala’ encroachment on pastureland cleared in Shahpura
BJP MLA from Shahpura, Dr Lalaram Bairwa

Bhilwara: The Shahpura sub-divisional administration Friday demolished alleged encroachment on pastureland in Shahpura that was built in the name of a gaushala linked to BJP MLA Dr Lalaram Bairwa. Officials also disconnected the electricity connection provided at the site, where no cattle were found during the action. The drive was carried out on the directions of Bhilwara Collector Jasmeet Singh Sandhu after allegations that Dev Gaushala Seva Sansthan fenced nearly 20 bighas of pastureland along the Shahpura-Kekri Mega Highway and undertook construction despite not being eligible for land allotment.According to revenue records, the institution sought allotment of 5 hectares from a 78.68-hectare pasture parcel. The proposal was rejected as the organisation did not meet eligibility criteria under the Rajasthan Gaushala Act, which requires a registered gaushala to have been operational for at least three years. Revenue department officials said the institution, registered on Aug 21, 2025, in the cooperative department, did not qualify.Records showed Bairwa was initially listed as the society’s secretary, while his son Chinar Devatwal was president and another son, Jatin Devatwal, treasurer.Bairwa denied any current association with the institution, saying he and his family resigned after learning elected representatives could not remain on its committee.Sandhu said, “A committee of administrative officers was formed Thursday evening. On Friday, the electricity connection was cut and the illegal encroachment was demolished. Strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty in this matter.”
