Ajmer: District police have arrested two men from Agra accused of cheating an Ajmer resident by posing as a former teacher and using mule bank accounts to siphon money.Police said Ram Gopal Sharma, 52, of Bihari Ganj, reported that on Feb 21 he received a call from an unknown number. The caller claimed he had been Sharma’s teacher and said he was hospitalised and unable to use online banking. He told Sharma he was sending Rs 50,000 and asked him to forward the amount through a link “to the number of hospital.”Sharma later found Rs 1 lakh had been withdrawn from his account. Police said the caller had not transferred any money and instead sent a fake message showing a transfer.Investigators arrested Sanju Khushawa, 25, and Vimal Kumar Jatav, 26, both from Agra. Police said Khushawa targeted “uneducated people,” opened bank accounts in their names, linked his mobile number to the accounts and kept their documents, then sold the accounts to Jatav. Police said Jatav used those accounts to receive money from victims after sending fake transfer messages to build trust.Police said further investigation is underway and that a district-wide operation against mule bank accounts is continuing.
