Jaipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lay the foundation stone for Jaipur Metro Line 2 in the last month of this fiscal. Metro officials stated that after the foundation stone laying ceremony, Jaipur Metro Railway Corporation (JMRC) will become Rajasthan Metro Railway Corporation (RMRC). Speaking to TOI, senior JMRC officials confirmed that the state govt has requested the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The final clearance for the project from the Union cabinet, however, is still pending. Officials said they were expecting both the final approval and a specific date for the foundation stone ceremony together from the PMO. “Jaipur Metro is the only metro (apart from the Kolkata Metro) that has been constructed and run by the state govt. Now, we would make the corporation into a joint venture entity between the Centre and the state to form the RMRC,” an official said.
