Jaisalmer: A mass cheating scandal has surfaced at a private college in Jaisalmer where 93 students were allegedly caught using unfair means during a BA second-year Hindi Literature exam conducted under Jai Narain Vyas University (JNVU), Jodhpur. Invigilators on duty were allegedly dictating answers to students inside the examination hall.Though the incident occurred Saturday, it came to light Wednesday after the college administration disclosed it. A video purportedly showing the malpractice has also surfaced on social media.The incident took place at Shri Karni College in Kajoi during the 7am-10am examination. During a surprise inspection, a JNVU flying squad found two invigilators allegedly dictating answers. The team also noticed that several answer sheets contained nearly identical responses.The flying squad sealed all 93 answer books and launched an inquiry. Officials said CCTV footage from the examination centre also indicated that answers were being dictated to students. Action will be taken against the invigilators and the examination centre if the allegations are proved.The squad also inspected centres in Jaisalmer city, Undoo, Fatehgarh, Ramgarh and Shiv in Barmer district, detecting another cheating case at Shiv while probing irregularities at a few other private colleges.JNVU vice-chancellor Pawan Kumar Sharma said the university follows a zero-tolerance policy against malpractice and promised strict action against those found guilty.Government College, Jaisalmer principal Shyam Sundar Meena said the original answer books of all 93 students were seized and fresh answer books were issued to allow them to complete the examination. Students found guilty could face debarment from examinations for one to three years, with a final decision to be taken by the university after an inquiry.
