Udaipur: A major accident late Saturday night in Dungarpur district’s Savla area claimed lives of four family members and left eight others injured. According to Sabla SHO Raghuveer Singh, the family members were returning from a wedding when their vehicle veered off the road, and as local villagers gathered to help and an ambulance arrived, a speeding truck overturned directly onto the jeep, several bikes, and the people assisting the injured.The impact was devastating. Three bikes and the ambulance along with several people were trapped beneath the overturned truck. An electric pole was also broken, and live wires fell on the road. A crane was called in, and by 3:30am Sunday, the trapped people and vehicles were recovered. Among them were four dead, all from the same family from Badi village in Savla. They were identified as Lavji Patidar, Dayalal Patidar, Savita Patidar, and Bhavesh Patidar.The family was returning from the wedding of Lavji Patidar’s granddaughter. Bystanders who stopped to help the injured were also caught under the overturned truck. Eight people injured in the accident were taken to Sagwara hospital. Rescue operations continued through the night.
