Jaipur: Jaipur Mizo Welfare celebrated YMA Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour on Monday (June 15) here at The Westin Farm, Balaji City Road, Bindayaka.Members of the Mizo community residing in Jaipur actively participated in the event, reaffirming their commitment to preserving their rich cultural heritage and strengthening community unity.The Young Mizo Association (YMA) is the largest and most influential non-profit, secular, and voluntary organisation of the Mizo people. Its primary objective is to preserve Mizo culture, traditions, and Christian values in an ever-changing society.The organisation is guided by the principle of “Tlawmngaihna,” the Mizo code of ethics that embodies selflessness, service to others, respect for elders, and helping those in need.The first session of the programme was chaired by Pu R Laltlanthanga, while the opening prayer was led by Nl Jennifer R Lalhriatpuii. On the occasion, Pu R Lalchanchinmawia, President of Jaipur Mizo Welfare, delivered the YMA Day message, urging the community to uphold the noble traditions and values of Mizo society and pass them on to future generations.The programme also featured special musical performances, discussions on the YMA pledge, and the felicitation of former office-bearers for their contributions to the organisation.Traditional Mizo dances captivated the audience and highlighted the beauty of Mizo cultural heritage. Various sports and recreational activities were also organised, including children’s group recitations, musical chairs, solo singing competitions, lemon-eating contests, nail-hammering competitions, and swimming events.The cultural evening added colour and excitement to the celebrations. One of the major attractions of the event was the “Miss and Mister Jaipur” competition, where participants showcased their talents and cultural pride while dressed in traditional Mizo attire. Winners were selected by a panel of judges.A special felicitation ceremony was held to honour Pi Lalnunsangi Fanai and Pi Lianrothangi, fondly regarded as the “Mothers of Jaipur Mizos.”Since the establishment of the Jaipur Mizo community, both women have played an instrumental role in providing leadership, guidance, and maternal support to community members. Their invaluable contributions were acknowledged with deep appreciation and respect.Lalthakimi, Secretary of Jaipur Mizo Welfare and a member of the organising committee, stated that the primary objective of the celebration was to preserve Mizo culture, strengthen communal bonds, and inspire younger generations to remain connected to their roots and values.A community feast was also organised during the event, with members working together to prepare and serve food at the venue, reflecting the spirit of unity and cooperation that defines Mizo society.At the conclusion of the programme, Jaipur Mizo Welfare invited Mizo residents in Jaipur who have not yet become members to join the organisation.The community was also encouraged to continue upholding the Mizo way of life and the enduring values of Tlawmngaihna for future generations. The grand celebration not only showcased the richness of Mizo culture but also reaffirmed the importance of unity, service, and preserving one’s identity while contributing positively to society.
