Jhunjhunu: A woman and her three children drowned in a water tank in Bandhanau village, Sardarshahar, Churu, Saturday. The deceased have been identified as 24-year-old Jethi Devi, wife of Subhash Jat, and her children, six-year-old Ishika, four-year-old Arushi and two-year-old Sanjay.Meanwhile, the deceased woman’s father filed a murder case over dowry against the husband and his uncle. Sardarshahar station house officer Madanlal Bishnoi said that they received information Saturday night about deaths of a mother and her three children by drowning in a water tank. Upon arrival, the bodies were retrieved and placed in the govt hospital’s mortuary, he said.Devi’s father, Bhawarlal Jat, a resident of Bhadhasar, reported that his daughter was married to Subhash of Bandhanau in 2016. Since the marriage, Subhash and his uncle Mukhram harassed Devi over insufficient dowry. On Saturday night, they received a call that Subhash assaulted his wife and children and threw them into the water tank and pond, resulting in their death. The family reached Bandhanau village and informed the police, who retrieved the bodies of Devi and children from the water, Jat reported.The report also stated that there were injury marks on the deceased. It further claimed that Subhash openly admitted to killing them and threatened to kill anyone who took action against him. Subhash’s uncle Mukhram also warned against taking any action.The report accuses Subhash and his uncle Mukhram of conspiring to murder Devi and her three children over dowry demands. The police conducted post-mortems Sunday with a medical board in the presence of the family and handed over the bodies to them, registering the case and starting an investigation.
