Jaipur: Gokulpura residents have raised concerns over recurring traffic congestion on Kanakpura Road, alleging that heavy trucks operating from Container Corporation of India’s (CONCOR) Kanakpura Container Depot are frequently parked along the main.Residents said trucks entering and exiting the depot are seen lined up along the road throughout the day, narrowing the carriageway and slowing traffic near Gokulpura Phatak. With the main stretch congested, motorists use adjoining residential colony roads, adding to the traffic pressure.Mahesh Choudhary, a resident, said the problem has persisted for four-five years. “Trucks from the facility keep coming and going throughout the day, but there is no proper designated parking space for them. These huge trucks are parked on the main road, causing heavy congestion on Kanakpura Road. When the main road gets blocked, people start using the colony roads instead,” he said.Choudhary said residents had raised the issue several times, including during the recent municipal election canvassing, but no permanent solution has been found. “Any given minute of the day, one can see trucks parked on the road and traffic moving extremely slowly. We mainly use this road to get out of the Gokulpura area towards Sirsi Road. During emergencies, situation gets worse,” he said. He also alleged that on approaching the police over the issue, he was asked to write to traffic DIG for assistance.SHO of Kardhani police station Sawai Singh said truck parking was a major issue in the area and that police personnel manage the stretch regularly. “As long as traffic is moving, it is fine. Whenever there is extreme congestion, we ask the trucks to move,” he said.Asked why the trucks were not permanently removed from the road, Singh said there was currently no alternative parking space available for them. “There is no other place for them to park. They can only be moved from one spot to another, which is how we have been managing the situation,” he said. On the resident’s allegation that he was asked to approach the traffic DIG, Singh said, “That is incorrect. We will look into the matter immediately.”Officials at CONCOR were contacted for their response on the issue, but they did not comment.
