Bhilwara: Thieves stole 35 to 40 smartphones worth Rs 4 to 5 lakh from a mobile shop at the bus stand in Kareda town of Bhilwara district around midnight Monday, with CCTV footage showing one of the accused wearing a mask of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Shop owner Laxman Sen discovered the theft Tuesday morning when he opened the shop. Goods were scattered on the floor and boxes of expensive mobile phones were found empty.Kareda police station house officer Puranmal Meena reached the spot with a police team and inspected the shop. Police then examined CCTV footage from cameras installed in and around the premises, which showed one of the thieves wearing the PM Modi mask while committing the theft.Police said the same gang also tried to break into another mobile storw at Beej Godam Chauraha on the same night. CCTV footage from that location also showed the same masked accused trying unsuccessfully to break the shutter lock.“We have registered a case on the shopkeeper’s report and started the investigation. In the CCTV footage, a youth wearing a PM Modi mask was engaged in committing the theft. We have started the investigation on the basis of the CCTV footage and the accused will be arrested soon,” Meena said.
