Tenant, friend assault and rob landlady in Jaipur

Jaipur: A tenant and his associate allegedly assaulted a woman and fled after robbing her of gold jewellery, a mobile phone and other valuables in the Motu Ka Bas area under Daulatpura police station limits near Chandwaji in the outskirts of Jaipur Friday. The injured woman reportedly remained unconscious inside her house for nearly three hours before seeking help from neighbours.According to police, the victim, identified as Rani (45), had rented a room in her house around three months ago to a labourer. Officials said several friends of the tenant frequently visited the premises.The tenant allegedly called one of his friends to the house Friday evening and planned the robbery. “The accused overpowered the woman, strangled her and brutally assaulted her when she resisted. During the attack, the men smashed her head against a wall, leaving her seriously injured,” an officer said.Police said the accused snatched the woman’s gold chain and mobile phone before fleeing. The victim remained lying injured inside the house for around three hours before regaining consciousness around 8.45 pm and alerting neighbours, who informed the police.A police team reached the spot and shifted the injured woman to Barala Hospital for treatment. Police said the woman was traumatised and unable to fully narrate the sequence of events.“Preliminary investigation points to the involvement of the tenant and his associate in the assault and robbery,” an officer said. Police teams are scanning CCTV footage and conducting raids to trace the accused. Further investigation is under way.
