Teachers threaten strike over transfers

Jaipur: As the education department prepares for the new academic session, govt school teachers in the state are planning to go on strike. Teachers said that despite several requests, their demands regarding transfer of Grade-III teachers are not being heard, and only assurances are being offered. They have demanded that the transfer policy be implemented in the state at the earliest.Different teachers’ associations are conducting meetings to decide strategy for the protest. Ranjeet Meena, general secretary of Rajasthan Shikshak Sangh (Ekikrit), said a delegation of teachers met CM Bhajan Lal Sharma Monday and submitted a memorandum with their demands. Teachers have also threatened that if the state govt does not open transfers, hundreds of teachers will get their heads shaved at the Shiksha Sankul together and donate their hair to the CM.“Transfers of Grade-III teachers have been pending for years. A transparent transfer policy should be implemented on the lines of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya. Direct promotions for Grade-III teachers should also be done soon,” said Meena.
