Jaipur: Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has directed Rajasthan’s health department to conduct a one-day statewide sanitation campaign, “Kayakalp Activities”, on Oct 27 to strengthen cleanliness, hygiene and infection-control practices across public health facilities. The drive will be implemented in state-run medical, nursing, pharmacy and allied healthcare colleges, district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, community health centres, Ayushman Arogya Mandir-Primary Health Centres, urban primary health centres and sub-centres.Officials said the campaign will follow the principles of the Kayakalp programme, which focuses on improving sanitation standards, biomedical waste management, infection prevention and environmental upkeep in healthcare institutions. As part of the action plan, facilities have been asked to carry out deep-cleaning of high-footfall areas, outpatient departments, wards and public conveniences. Strict compliance with biomedical waste management norms has also been mandated. The campaign will also include hand-hygiene compliance drives, re-validation of infection-prevention protocols and structural sanitisation measures. Hospitals and health centres have been instructed to clear scrap, manage clutter, improve space utilisation and maintain green areas within their premises. The ministry has directed the state to nominate a state-level nodal officer to supervise the campaign. The officer will be responsible for collecting facility-level data, including high-resolution geotagged before-and-after photographs, activity reports and details of information, education and communication initiatives.
