Jaipur: Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) Sunday successfully conducted the Sub-Inspector (SI) and Platoon Commander competitive re-examination 2021.A total of 2,18,114 candidates registered for this exam and recorded an attendance of 69.5% in the first shift and 69% in the second shift.

The 2021 SI recruitment exam was cancelled in May this year on a recommendation of the state govt in keeping with a high court judgment from last year which was also upheld by Supreme Court.On Sunday, RPSC chairperson Lt Col Kesari Singh and secretary Ashutosh Gupta directly monitored the proceedings throughout the day from the control room at the commission’s headquarters.A total of 666 examination centres were set up for the exam across 11 districts to ensure the smooth conduct of the exam. Centres were set up in Jaipur, Ajmer, Alwar, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Jodhpur, Kota, Sri Ganganagar, Tonk and Udaipur.The exam was conducted amid strict checking. In Jaipur, a candidate was denied entry because his shirt had metal buttons; he was allowed to appear for the exam wearing his vest. Another candidate was granted entry only after tape was applied over the metal parts of his T-shirt.In Ajmer, female candidates were required to remove their bangles before being allowed in; all candidates were also asked to remove any threads worn on their wrists. In Ajmer, staff used metal detectors to check women’s eyeglasses.A candidate arrived at the last minute at a centre in Kota and ran around frantically for a few seconds. Police personnel then calmed him down and reassured him. He was subsequently granted entry after undergoing a security check.In Jodhpur, announcements were also made through a loudspeaker outside a few centres before gates were closed.
