Jaipur: Talks between the state govt and representatives of the Sanyukt Valmiki Evam Safayi Shramik Sangh failed to break the deadlock Tuesday, as both sides could not agree on the timeline for issuing the sanitation workers’ recruitment notification. The meeting was attended by the Directorate of Local Bodies principal secretary Ravi Jain, Jaipur Municipal Corporation commissioner Om Kasera, Malviya Nagar MLA and the union’s patron Kalicharan Saraf, and members of the union’s struggle committee. Both sides agreed to give preference in recruitment to families traditionally engaged in sanitation work, appoint eligible candidates covered by court cases, and prioritise present and former sanitation workers. However, no agreement was reached on the experience certificate requirement. While the govt sought 15 days to issue the recruitment notification, the union demanded that it be released immediately. The strike entered its fourth day across Rajasthan. In Jaipur, sanitation workers held a rally from Pandit Ji Ka Chauraha to Char Number Dispensary in Civil Lines. The union said the boycott of sanitation work will continue until its demands are met. It announced another protest in Murlipura Wednesday.
