Jaipur: Rajasthan ATS Friday said it detained a man in Punjab for interrogation over allegations of circulating anti-national and separatist content on social media while also recording videos of strategic border areas.Police have identified the suspect as Guruvinder Singh. Preliminary investigation found pro-Khalistan and pro-Pakistan posts, videos and comments on his social media accounts. Investigators also alleged that he was in contact with suspicious individuals linked to terror networks.The operation was carried out under the direction of ADG ATS, AGTF and ANTF Dinesh MN and under the supervision of IG Rajesh Singh. The ATS social media monitoring unit, led by inspector Nisha Chawaria, detected the activity during routine surveillance of suspicious online content.Following the initial findings, ATS sent a team led by Additional SP Surendra Singh to Punjab. During questioning and digital analysis, investigators found audio clips, videos, posts, chats and comments allegedly supporting pro-Khalistan and pro-Pakistan narratives on the suspect’s social media accounts.Investigators also found Facebook Messenger chats and voice notes that allegedly showed communication with suspicious individuals and members linked to banned terror outfit The Resistance Front. According to ATS, the chats included discussions on procuring AK-47 rifles and grenades to carry out bomb blasts.ATS further alleged that the suspect recorded videos of a BSF post in a restricted border area on his mobile phone and shared them with handlers based in Pakistan.Officials said the suspect had also been regularly sharing videos supporting Khalistan circulated by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Investigation revealed alleged links with separatist individuals and organisations, along with material related to possible terror activities in India.Acting on Rajasthan ATS inputs, Punjab Police registered a case against Guruvinder Singh at Sadar Patti police station in Tarn Taran district under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act.Further investigation is underway to examine the suspect’s network and possible cross-border links.
