Kota: A contractual ECG technician at MBS Hospital in Kota was allegedly assaulted by relatives of a 60-year-old woman patient late Monday night after they accused him of sexually harassing her during an examination in the emergency ward.The technician, identified as Vishnu Prakash, denied the allegation and said a woman attendant was present in the room during the ECG procedure. He said he had asked for the patient’s clothes to be removed as required for the test. In protest over the assault, ECG technicians at MBS Hospital stopped work for two hours Tuesday. They demanded adequate staffing, including women personnel, and security arrangements during night duty. According to hospital sources, the elderly patient was brought to the emergency ward around 11pm Monday. After a doctor prescribed an ECG, the technician conducted the examination and handed over the report. Soon after, family members of the patient allegedly created a commotion in the hospital and accused the technician of sexual harassment. Vishnu Prakash alleged that several relatives entered the room, beat him and dragged him toward the emergency doctor’s chamber. He alleged that the doctor on emergency duty was also manhandled during the incident. Police and hospital authorities reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Following a complaint by the technician, Nayapura police registered a case against 4-5 persons, including one identified as Mohsin, who has been arrested. “Efforts to nab the other accused are underway,” Circle Inspector Vinod Kumar said.
