Jaipur: Elections for chairpersons of 305 urban local bodies (ULBs) across Rajasthan will be held Monday from 10am to 2pm, with 592 candidates in the fray and 32 chairpersons already elected unopposed, according to the State Election Commission (SEC). Of the 32 unopposed victories, BJP secured 28 chairperson posts, while Congress and independents have won two posts each without a contest.The counting of votes will begin immediately after polling closes at 2pm Monday. The elections are being held for the chairperson posts of the ULBs that went to polls earlier this month. However, elections to the chairperson posts of four urban local bodies — Jaipur Municipal Corporation, Jodhpur Municipal Corporation, Kota Municipal Corporation and Suket Municipality — will be held separately on Sept 25.The chairperson elections follow the recently concluded urban local body polls in the state. The SEC had conducted polling for councillors in two phases on September 9 and 11, followed by counting on Sept 14. . The process will be followed by elections to the posts of deputy chairpersons/vice-chairpersons, as per the schedule issued by SEC.
