Jaipur: Indian squash team coach Surbhi Misra lauded the efforts of Anahat Singh, who created history by becoming the world junior squash champion. Teenage sensation Anahat became the first Indian player to become the world junior squash champion by outclassing Ruqayya Salem of Egypt in straight sets in the final in Ontario on Saturday.Jaipur-based Surbhi Misra termed it as the “golden era of Indian squash”.“This is not just a personal victory for Anahat Singh, but the beginning of a golden chapter for Indian squash,” said Surbhi Misra of Jaipur, coach of the Indian squash team, in a statement issued from Ontario.

“This is not just a personal victory for Anahat Singh, but the beginning of a golden chapter for Indian squash. Anahat, with his brilliant play, confidence, and fighting spirit, brought India the coveted junior world title the country had been waiting for years.
This achievement will serve as an inspiration for generations to come and pave the way for Indian squash to reach new heights,” said Surbhi, a former Indian squash star.An 18-year-old Indian claimed the girls’ singles title at the World Junior Squash Championship. Anahat, the top seed in the tournament, defeated second seed Ruqayya Salem of Egypt in the final 11-3, 11-7, 11-9. World No. 20 Anahat is the first Indian player to win the World Junior Championship crown. Before Anahat, Joshna Chinappa had reached the final in 2005.
