Jaipur: Govt schools in Rajasthan will now remain under the education department’s digital watch on holidays, with school principals required to record the date and reason for closure on the Shala Darpan portal. The department has launched a new Holiday Entry Module on the portal to maintain a digital record of school holidays and attendance. Under the new system, principals must mandatorily enter details of declared holidays and update the attendance of students and staff by 1.30pm every day.The module will enable senior department officials to access real-time information about school closures and the reasons behind them. It will also help identify schools functioning without authorised holidays and track students and staff who remain absent regularly. The initiative is aimed at ensuring regular attendance and improving accountability in govt schools. However, poor internet connectivity and technical difficulties in rural areas could pose challenges to its implementation.State president of the Rajasthan Elementary & Secondary Teachers Association (RESTA), Mohar Singh Salavad, said the new module is a useful initiative to bring transparency to attendance, holidays and the functioning of schools. It would strengthen departmental monitoring and increase accountability at the school level, he added.
