Gehlot targets state govt after ex-MLA Bhadana killed

Jaipur: Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot Monday accused BJP govt of failing to maintain law and order after former BJP MLA Attar Singh Bhadana was killed in Bharatpur, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s home district.Bhadana was allegedly attacked with sticks and stones by villagers at his stone crusher site in Bhonda village under Weir police station limits Sunday evening. He suffered serious injuries and later died during treatment at SMS Hospital in Jaipur. His associate, Gagan Sharma, was also injured.Gehlot said the dispute had reportedly continued for nearly two years and questioned why police and administration had failed to act despite warnings. “What were the police and administration doing for two years? When the warning was clear, why was no action taken?” he asked.BJP MLA and Rajasthan Assembly chief whip Jogeshwar Garg defended govt, saying, “A killing can happen anywhere. What right does Congress have to question BJP over this incident?” Referring to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s assassination, Garg said, “Such incidents have also happened during Congress rule.” He said govt would take “appropriate action” in the case.
